The University of Mississippi!

Dear Parents and Family Members,

Brandi Hephner LaBanc, Ed.D.

Brandi Hephner LaBanc, Ed.D.

On behalf of the staff in the Division of Student Affairs, allow me to extend a warm welcome to the Ole Miss family! We have such an exciting academic year ahead, and the faculty and staff are eager to help your student get involved in campus life and be successful in his or her first year and beyond.

I also am new this year to the University of Mississippi, as I began my role this past July. Despite my short tenure on campus, I can assure you of one thing — your student is in excellent hands and will be challenged to develop and mature over the course of his or her college career, yet supported in making healthy, positive decisions along the way. I recognize that sending any child off to college can be a scary experience, but it is our job to try and make that transition as seamless as possible for your student and you.

Our division’s vision statement includes the following statement:

We are dedicated educators and passionate student advocates who provide extraordinary support services and learning opportunities.

In my short time on campus, I have quickly come to learn that these are not merely words on our website. My division’s staff members are some of the most dedicated, passionate and extraordinary professionals I have had the privilege to work for in my career. That being said, call on us if we can partner with you to assure your student’s success.

Not only do we want your students to become engaged with programs and opportunities on campus, but we also want you to become involved with us! Our Parents Council is a great first step, and please plan to join us for Fall Family Weekend and watch your student participate in Rebel Run.

What I also have found during my transition to this amazing campus is that when we say “Ole Miss family,” we mean it. We pride ourselves in the connections we build with our students, and we want them to feel as though this is a home away from their home with you. We hope, as you return to campus time and time again, you come to feel that way as well.

I look forward to partnering with you to make your student’s career at the University of Mississippi the best it can be. I hope to see you this fall!

Warm Regards,

Brandi Hephner LaBanc, Ed.D.
