You will be welcomed to the university by members of our orientation staff and university administration and hear an overview of the day’s events.

 

9:15-10:10 am

Rebel to Rebel: Student Small Group 1

Please join using the link from your Orientation Leader in your UM Gmail account.

Members of the student orientation leader staff will lead small group discussions via Zoom. Your leaders will facilitate conversation with you and some of your new classmates and will discuss student services, university resources, and other details about orientation. This is a great opportunity to meet people and to ask questions to current Ole Miss students. 2021 Orientation Guide

Parent & Family Member Overview

In this session, parents and family members will hear about campus resources and how to support your student’s transition to campus. In addition, orientation staff will go over the program schedule in detail and answer questions about new student life. 2021 Orientation Guide

Got questions for Ole Miss students? Interested in learning how to get more involved? In this Zoom webinar, current students will answer questions about about campus life, involvement, leadership and service opportunities, and what it’s like to be a student at the University of Mississippi.

Live Academic School Meetings (Advising Part One)

This is your first opportunity to meet with officials from your academic school and hear about the academic requirements specific to your department. This includes the types of classes you need for your degree, number of hours required to graduate, and the advising process. Please join using the links below or the link from your Academic School in your UM Gmail account. You may join this help link if you do not know which Academic School Meeting to attend.

  • Financial Planning

    • In this session, representatives from the Financial Aid office will discuss everything you need to know about scholarships, loans, grants, work-study opportunities, MESG, prepaid tuition plans (from all states), billing, full costs of attendance, the monthly bursar bill students receive and more.
  • Health Professions Advising Office

    • Learn about the UM Health Professions Advising Office, and hear more about preparing to enter a health-related profession such as medicine, nursing or physical therapy. This meeting is open to students (and their family members) from all majors who are interested in any health-related profession, excluding pharmacy.
  • Helping First-Gen Students Connect: StudentFIRST

    • Will you be one of the first in your immediate family to earn a 4-year degree? If so, we’d like to help connect you to other students, faculty, and staff who are here to support your journey as a first-generation (sometimes called “first-gen”) college student.

    • This meeting is open to students (and their family members) from all majors who are interested in attending law school in the future.
  • Student Disability Services

    • Student Disability Services in the Division of Student Affairs leads the university in its commitment to providing equal access and reasonable accommodations for students and others with disabilities. In this presentation, SDS staff members will outline the registration process for students with a documented disability who want to request academic accommodations. Staff members will highlight the registration process timeline, important dates, relevant facts, and answer any questions that may arise.
  • Veterans & Military Services (Not ROTC)

    • Ole Miss Veteran & Military Services is designed to enhance growth at Ole Miss by reaching out to veterans, service members and dependents, and provide them with assistance, advocacy and counseling while they obtain a degree at Ole Miss. Topics covered are VA and TA educational processes, services on campus, student veteran organizations, and upcoming events for spring.
  • Dining Services/Ole Miss Bookstore

    • In this session, you will learn the ins and outs of the required freshman meal plan, Flex and Express dollars, and about all the resources the Ole Miss Bookstore offers.

An exciting introduction to the Division of Diversity and Community Engagement focusing on the importance of diversity. The Division of Diversity and Community Engagement is dedicated to creating a supportive and inclusive campus environment that complements the academic experience, connects and engages students with the university and local community, and provides opportunities for success in a multicultural society. The Division houses the Center for Inclusion & Cross-Cultural Engagement and Office of Community Engagement.

Get Involved at the Flagship

Students who get involved in student organizations on campus indicate higher levels of satisfaction with their university overall experience. Come learn about the many ways to be involved through our 350+ student organizations and other leadership opportunities. Staff and student representatives from The Gertrude C. Ford Ole Miss Student Union will share more about navigating student involvement at the Flagship.

Responsible Rebel

During this session, representatives from the University Police Department, Title IX, UMatter, and Violence Intervention & Prevention Office will share some of Ole Miss’ policies and resources available to you. Topics covered include UM policies on Title IX and Sexual Misconduct, healthy relationships; bystander intervention, and services and resources available on the Ole Miss campus.

3:55-4:50 pm

Join your small groups again to learn about the course registration process, learn about next steps, and ask any remaining questions you may have!

    • Join the Fraternity & Sorority Life staff and hear from current students about the history of Greek life at the University of Mississippi. Students and their guests will learn about the three governing councils and how interested students can join the community. Fraternity & Sorority Life will also share information about what the University of Mississippi is doing to create a healthy and extraordinary experience.
  • Flagship Involvement Fair
    • 5:00-6:30 pm JOIN HERE
    • Check out some of the 350+ ways to get involved at the University of Mississippi by stopping by our involvement fair. This event is hosted in partnership with The Gertrude C. Ford Ole Miss Student Union Leadership & Engagement staff. Check-in at the fair using The ForUM to make sure our staff can follow up with you on more ways to get involved on campus!
  • Student Housing Q&A
    • 5:00-6:00 pm JOIN HERE
    • Student Housing staff members are available to answer any questions about residence halls, move-in, and what it’s like to live on campus!
